Events
We were all shocked this week to discover our team points had all disappeared! The children looked for clues and found a trail of tokens leading to the gate and a glove at the 'crime scene' which they deduced was there to prevent fingerprints being left behind...
The children quickly came up with a list of suspects, which included the dancers, Mrs Hockney, other primary schools, a criminal mastermind and finally, King Charles III (as his portrait had been hung in the hall on the same day as the disappearance, and the children could see one glove in his portrait).
A mysterious letter arrived by courier (although some children misheard and believed it came from Korea) informing the children that their tokens were safe, but in order to have them safely returned, the children need to write letters giving all the reasons why we deserve them and why we should have them back.
The school has been a buzz of suspicion and theories since Thursday morning and King Charles III still seems to be one of the top suspects.
We hope the tokens will be safely returned by Thursday morning so we can find out which team is the overall winner for Spring Term and who will be invited to wear non-uniform on the last day of term.
Maybe you could take some time over the weekend to discuss with your child why they think the points should be returned.
Fingers crossed for their safe return. Watch this space...

COMIC RELIEF DAY
The School Council decided on the events to raise money on Comic Relief Day this year. The children were encouraged to wear 'Crazy Hair' or 'Crazy Hats' to school. They also had the opportunity to pay to throw sponges at the School Council members. Great fun!

WORLD BOOK DAY
The children enjoyed World Book Day on Thursday 6th March and welcomed the opportunity to dress up and bring their favourite book to school. The children from Class 3 and Class 4 chose which book they wanted to hear being read with 7 to choose from, and Class 1 and Class 2 worked in small groups to listen to lots of stories being read by staff from their class. We also had a visit from Tom Smith who is a goalkeeper with Colchester United. He very kindly donated some books to the school and answered children's questions. Class 1 and 2 also enjoyed joining in with some fun online lessons! A great day enjoyed by all.

STORIES ABOUT BAYNARD THE KNIGHT
We had an exciting day when Baynard the Knight was the focus of everyone's writing. The children let their imaginations run wild and all worked hard to complete their best piece of writing. Children in Class 1 completed the day by painting pictures of Baynard the Knight.
In preparation, children listened to stories about a knight, were read the openings of stories written by their teachers and shared ideas in their classes. They then created plans and finally got to write! We have put a piece of writing from each year group into a book which will be kept in Reception. Next time you are in school, please take the opportunity to have a read!
The pictures below show the children hard at work and some of their writing.
