MAPPING THE SCHOOL HABITATS 9th Oct 2025

10 children were supported by Louis from RHS to map the various habitats on the school grounds. They used resources including flow charts to identify and name the different habitats. Once this was completed, a digital copy was created and shared on the Education Nature Park website. This is the first step in our journey to improving the biodiversity of our school grounds.

The children have all been so busy this week! They have enjoyed looking after each other in the hospital area where everyone thankfully makes a full recovery! They have also enjoyed making their own vehicles to drive on the track. Smiles and laughter all round in class 1!

The children from KS1 and KS2 welcomed family and friends to St Luke's Church for their Harvest Festival Celebration. The children sang, read poems and shared the joy of harvest with us all. Thank you children and thank you to all who came along to watch.

The children had great fun this week playing team games in their multiskills club. They had to think about passing, throwing and defending their goals - so many skills being used! If your child wants to come along on Thursday, the club runs from 3.15-4.00. There is no cost - just let the office know and they can join the fun!

Class 3 science lesson 25th Sep 2025

In our science lesson, we made telephones using plastic cups and string to investigate how sound travels. We spoke into one cup and listened at the other to see what would happen. We tested different lengths of string and also tried pulling the string loosely and tightly. We discovered that the sound travelled best when the string was pulled tight and was longer. This is because the vibrations from our voices moved more easily along the string when it was stretched, carrying the sound more clearly from one cup to the other.

Class 4 are investigating air resistance in their science lesson. In groups, they worked together to test different size parachutes to see which ones worked best. They had to ensure their investigations were fair by making sure all the variables other than the size of the parachute remained the same

In art this week, Class 3 looked at how artists can convey emotions using warm colours and cool colours. They were then challenged to create a picture using either just warm or just cold colours. They produced some great art work which they were very proud of!

Class 1 decided they needed to clean everything up for the end of year. They took their job very seriously, giving the cars and bikes a good wash, cleaning the outdoor toys and having fun with their friends outside. Great job Class 1!

They had a brilliant first week and enjoyed staying upright, playing corners and doing the limbo (which they took VERY seriously!). The children had a brilliant time learning about the animals who visited our school. They had the opportunity to hold White Frogs, stroke a chinchilla and a 10 foot snake, hold a giant snail and watch the owls fly overhead. What a great experience for them all!
